In a serious security lapse, twelve Bangladeshi nationals awaiting deportation escaped from a temporary detention centre after injuring a jail guard in the Narsingarh area, located under the jurisdiction of the Airport police station on the outskirts of Agartala.

The incident occurred on September 29 but came to light after senior officials from the state government confirmed the escape on Sunday. The detainees, all foreign nationals, had completed their judicial custody and were being held at the centre while awaiting deportation procedures.
