The Ravens went into Sunday's Week 5 matchup with the Texans missing Lamar Jackson, Ronnie Stanley and Kyle Hamilton. But even in their absence, they could have shown some fight in moments that actually matter.
That wasn't the case at all against Houston.
When Texans rookie receiver Jaylin Noel hauled in a four-yard touchdown to make it 41-10, the third-round pick from Iowa State broke out a Ray Lewis dance to celebrate his first NFL score. On the broadcast, J.J. Watt said the old Ravens never would have tolerated that.
And just as Noel was finishing off the dance, Jaire Alexander intervened.
Alexander, knowing it was Noel's first touchdown, tried to take the football away from him. The Texans were able to push Alexander away, and Noel went to the sidelines with the football.
Of all the things to fire up the Ravens during a blowout, it seemed beyond odd that Noel's celebration struck a nerve. It's just been that kind of season for Baltimore.
