A man is facing criminal charges after he allegedly left his 11-month-old child alone in a rental car in the Seaport District on Tuesday, authorities said.

Officers were called to the area of 400 Summer St . just before 8:40 p.m. for a report of a missing child, police said in a statement.

“Upon arrival, officers learned that an 11-month-old child had been left unattended inside a rental vehicle for about one hour after the child’s father became lost,” police said.

The child was “safe and in good health” in a nearby parking lot, police said. Paramedics evaluated the infant at the scene.

The father, who was not named, will be summoned to South Boston Municipal Court to face charges of reckless endangerment of a child, officials said.
