Fans of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical Cats will soon have a chance to catch Theatre Kent’s production at the Chatham Capitol Theatre next month.

Based on T. S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, performances will take place from Nov. 13 to 15, featuring feline characters young and old.

Under the direction and choreography of Jamie Johnston, and musical direction by Tom Overton, cast and crew were on hand for a rehearsal at the Capitol on Sunday.

The musical focuses on the Jellicle Cats as they gather for one magical night: the Jellicle Ball.

Each cat shares their story, hoping to be chosen by Old Deuteronomy to ascend to the Heaviside Layer and be reborn into a new Jellicle life.

Theatre Kent has been rehearsing since July, ramping up after the end of summer.
