BLACKSBURG — Virginia Tech has been in its fair share of close contests over the last three-plus seasons. Fifteen instances, to be exact, have featured the Hokies and their opponent playing a game that is decided by eight points or less.

Tech has been on the wrong side of those outcomes more often than it would like.

The Hokies suffered their 13th one-score loss since the start of the 2022 season on Saturday with a 30-23 setback to Wake Forest before an announced crowd of 65,632 at Lane Stadium.

It dropped the Hokies to 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the ACC heading into next weekend’s matchup at No. 17 Georgia Tech.
