HE'S built an impressive rugby resume since his debut for Penrith Panthers in 2011, but being named head coach for Poland Rugby League Australia holds a very special spot in Harry Siejka's heart.

A tribute to his Polish heritage and grandfather, who was taken by the Nazis during the war before coming to Australia, Mr Siejka is proud to have been named the team's head coach.

And having played for and captained the team in the past, he is really looking forward to the camaraderie that comes with bonding over heritage.

"My grandfather was a prisoner of war, he was taken when he was 16 by the Nazis," Mr Siejka said.

"Him, his brother and his mother got marched to a couple of concentration camps, and then he was sent to work on a farm in Germany as a bit of a slave.
