ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. —
David Leyva, a Jersey Mike's franchise restaurant owner with businesses in Albuquerque and Las Cruces, died early Saturday after a single-car rollover crash in southeast New Mexico, a Mesilla Marshals Office news release said.
Around 2:30 a.m., Melissa Marshals patrol deputies responded to a 911 call that a vehicle had crashed in a town park. They found a white BMW with the driver inside, near a water fountain.
An investigation determined that the car was headed south on Calle De Paso at high speed when it hit a curb and went airborne before rolling over three times before landing upright facing east.
The release said that Leyva was the sole occupant of the car and was not wearing a seatbelt. Life-saving measures were attempted before Leyva died in the ambulance. Hi
