SEATTLE — With their ace, Tarik Skubal, on the mound for Game 2 of the ALDS , the Detroit Tigers knew runs would be at a premium. They just thought it would be the Seattle Mariners searching in vain for them at T-Mobile Park in the second round of the 2025 MLB playoffs .

Skubal mostly did his part on Sunday, Oct. 5, with just two runs allowed — both on solo homers by Jorge Polanco — but the Tigers fared worse for most of the game, getting no-hit for 4⅔ innings by M's right-hander Luis Castillo.
