SOPERTON, Ga. — Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that left one teenage boy dead and another seriously injured in Soperton Sunday afternoon.

Soperton Police Chief Brian Scott confirmed that officers responded to a shooting between 3:30 and 4:00 p.m. in a neighborhood on New Street. Treutlen County Coroner Greg Higgs said a 15-year-old boy was pronounced dead at the scene just after 4:35 p.m.

A second victim, a 17-year-old boy, was transported to Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia and later airlifted to a trauma center. Authorities have not released the names of either teen.

Soperton Police are working the case alongside the Treutlen County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Scott says no suspects have been identified at this time, and invest
