The death of a 71-year-old Simcoe woman is being investigated as a homicide, say Norfolk County OPP.

Barbara Morgan was found deceased in a Head Street South residence on Sunday, Oct. 5 morning.

Norfolk County OPP officers went to the residence in response to a 911 call shortly after 10:30 a.m.

The residence is located on Head Street, between the Simcoe Town Centre Mall and the Simcoe fairgrounds.

A post mortem is scheduled to be conducted Monday, Oct. 6 (today), Norfolk OPP said.

Preliminary information suggests the homicide is an isolated incident with no indication of a broader threat to the community, Norfolk OPP said in a statement.
