Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez has had a felony charge of battery involving serious bodily injury added to his misdemeanor charges stemming from a weekend incident that led to his arrest, a penalty could result in a sentence of one to six years.
Marion County prosecutor Ryan Mears made the announcement during a Monday morning news conference with Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department chief Chris Bailey. Mears said the investigation is ongoing.
“We are literally talking about people fighting over a parking space and or a dispute about where people are parking and it resulted in someone receiving just incredibly significant injuries," Mears said.
Sanchez was pepper-sprayed and stabbed multiple times during a late-night altercation in a downtown Indianapolis alley over the weekend, which resulted in criminal charges against the Fox Sports analyst, according to court records filed Sunday.
