GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — The Michigan Department of Natural Resources says firefighters are working to contain a wildfire near Houghton Lake and are reminding Michiganders to continue using caution during drought conditions.
The wildfire sparked Sunday afternoon near the Roscommon and Clare county lines in the Roscommon State Forest Area. The fire has already destroyed approximately 85 acres of marshy land that has a mix of pine and hardwood forest. They are still working to determine the cause of the wildfire.
