LOUISVILLE, Ky. —

Former Louisville Metro Police Department officer Brett Hankison's attempt to delay the start of his sentence has been denied.

He was sentenced to 33 months in prison in July after being found guilty of violating Breonna Taylor's civil rights during the botched 2020 raid that resulted in her death.

Hankison has been free since then as his attorneys appealed his conviction and sentencing .

On Thursday, he was ordered to report to prison.

His attorneys then filed a motion requesting a 60 to 90 day delay so he could appeal his conviction, but on Monday, that motion was denied.
