GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) - A car fire on Green Bay's west side caused an estimated $26,000 in damage Saturday afternoon but was quickly brought under control by firefighters.

The Green Bay Metro Fire Department was called around 2:35 p.m. on October 4 for a vehicle fire in the driveway of a multi-family home. When crews arrived, the car was fully engulfed in flames, with fire spreading to the home's exterior.

Firefighters contained the blaze within seven minutes, preventing serious damage inside the residence. All tenants safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.

While the cause remains under investigation, officials noted there were no working smoke detectors in the home. The department is reminding residents to test alarms monthly and replace batteries yearly.
