SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) -- An organization helping families in need furnish their homes is in need of some assistance of its own.

The Furniture Mission of South Dakota served a record number of households in 2024.

"2,024 is what we served last year," Furniture Mission President Dustin Hansen said.

Dustin Hansen says the organization was on pace to match that number this year, but has to hit the pause button.

"We are going to shut down operations for a little bit so we can move into our new space," Hansen said.

The Furniture Mission is preparing to make the transition to its new location along S. Van Eps Avenue in Sioux Falls, and will be closed beginning this Wednesday and into November.
