DULUTH — For the first time since 2021, ramp connections between U.S. Highway 53/Interstate 35/Interstate 535 are open now that the Twin Ports Interchange, previously nicknamed the “can of worms,” is completed.

“The ‘can of worms’ is officially no longer a thing, which is something to celebrate,” Duluth Mayor Roger Reinert said during a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the $435 million project Monday. “Tell everyone, ‘Stop using the Piedmont frontage road as if it were the Piedmont I-35/ 535 connection.’ You don't need to do it anymore.
