FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — Five people are facing disorderly conduct charges in connection with what police described as a "deliberate public disturbance" in Fall River early Sunday morning.

Police said the group initially gathered in Brockton before “traveling as a convoy” to Fall River. A private ambulance was reportedly forced to change routes when participants refused to let it pass on Innovation Way.

Officers responded to the intersection of Davol and Central streets just before 12:30 a.m., where roughly 200 people had completely blocked the roadway.

Individuals in high-visibility vests were allegedly acting as traffic guards while vehicles did burnouts and donuts. Police said fireworks were also set off in the street, and many participants wore masks to conceal their identities.
