The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is ramping up safety measures in Montgomery following a deadly mass shooting in the downtown area that happened late Saturday night. Gov. Kay Ivey directed ALEA to enhance its presence in key downtown areas.
ALEA will broaden the patrol footprint of its Capitol Patrol Unit immediately. State Troopers from ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division will also increase their visibility to deter crime and dangerous driving.
"ALEA remains steadfast in its commitment to serving the public and providing the necessary resources to deter crime, protect lives and property," said ALEA.
These efforts are in addition to the Metro Area Crime Suppression Unit's work. ALEA is working closely with local law enforcement to ensure a united front against crime.
