The University of Michigan’s Senate Advisory Committee on University Affairs met in the Alexander G. Ruthven Building Monday to discuss Statement of Student Rights and Responsibilities revisions, student representatives in SACUA and President Donald Trump’s proposed Compact for Academic Excellence in Higher Education .

SACUA Chair Derek Peterson began the meeting by giving updates on the 35th annual Davis, Markert, Nickerson Lecture, which is set to take place Nov. 6. Peterson said Ruth Ben-Ghiat, a professor of history and Italian studies at New York University, would give the lecture via Zoom due to safety concerns and the advice from the FBI.

“Dr. Ruth Ben-Ghiat has made the decision that she will not be able to come to campus personally to give the DMN lecture,” Peterson said
