MEMPHIS, Tenn. - It all happened in seconds. Michael Basham was at a standstill at a light when, out of nowhere, a car sideswiped him from behind. "I'm less than a mile away from the parking lot, and then it sounded like a bomb went off," Basham said. Basham was driving to his shift at FedEx on Saturday when he was hit by a speeding vehicle on Winchester Road at Tchulahoma Road. "It felt like I got spanked by a diesel truck, I felt a sharp pain in my left hip," Basham said. He soon learned this was much more than a random accident. "The state trooper told me that they had been chasing him since Lamar. They had pulled him over, got his driver's license, asked him to simply step outside the vehicle, and they said he took off," Basham said. Court
