Syracuse, N.Y. ― A woman was sentenced to prison Monday for conspiring to buy 52 guns in Georgia to sell in Syracuse in 2021.
Veronica Williams, 38, was convicted of fourth-degree conspiracy, one count of criminal possession of a firearm and one count of third-degree criminal sale of a firearm after trial.
On Monday, Williams was sentenced to a minimum of 11 years and a maximum of 15 years in prison, prosecutor Cindi Newtown said.
Williams faced 25 years in prison but she was found not guilty of 61 of the 64 charges against her.
The jury ultimately decided that prosecutors did not do enough to prove Williams, on her own or as an accomplice, possessed or sold the majority of the guns.
Williams was painted as the mastermind of the trafficking operation by 53 prosecution witnesses ov
