The body of a 7-year-old Columbia County boy was found in the Susquehanna River over the weekend after he’d wandered from home.

Reports say the child, Aiden Ha, was autistic and nonverbal.

WVIA News reported that the boy went missing about 9:20 a.m. Saturday from his Scott Township home, not far from Bloomsburg. His body was found in the river a half-mile from the family’s home around 12:30 p.m. Sunday by state police in a helicopter, according to Columbia County Coroner Jeremy Reese, per WVIA.

The drowning was accidental, Reese said.

Yahoo News reported that police dogs were able to track the boy’s scent to the water. Authorities and the community spent Saturday and Sunday searching the surrounding area and the river for Aiden.
