LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A planned regular London city council meeting took a turn on Monday when most of the council members did not show up.

Despite no quorum for the meeting, a discussion was held about one council member, Justin Young, allegedly using a racial slur in court during a domestic violence case. Some prominent leaders from outside the area spoke on racial issues.

People on Monday packed into the London Community Center to talk about a heavy topic: racism.

“We have a councilman who has been charged with a crime of domestic violence and using racial slurs. We wanted to address the situation and step down,” said London resident Leigh Ann Howard.
