A man has been jailed after he stabbed a dog to death and injured a second during a 'mental episode'.
Simon Elliott was caring for the dogs on behalf of some friends who were away on holiday.
Nottingham Crown Court heard that the 45-year-old killed one of the dogs after stabbing it through the heart.

A neighbour entered the defendant’s property and found Rosie the beagle “stiff and cold” as well as the other pet - a Staffie called Sabre - with a number of knife wounds.
She described the scene she found inside his flat as “abhorrent and barbaric”.
Sending him to prison for 18 months, Judge Stuart Rafferty KC said: “Only you will know how clearly you remember what happened.
