PORTAGE — Portage police say while they were forcibly taking an armed 24-year-old Illinois resident into custody during a traffic stop, they were confronted by a woman from another vehicle, who was also arrested.
The situation unfolded shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday after police said they stopped a vehicle after seeing it repeatedly swerving along westbound U.S. 20.
The officer reported smelling marijuana coming from the vehicle and while waiting for a police dog to arrive at the site, the driver, Dandre Wallace, 24, of Lynwood, was ordered to step out of his vehicle.
"He shook his head no, and said, 'nah,' and leaned further into the vehicle towards the center console," police said.
