DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – Officials are investigating after the death of a two-year-old child in Richmond, Indiana.

According to the Wayne County Emergency Communications Center, it received a 911 call on Monday, Oct. 6, for the toddler who was unconscious and unresponsive in the 900 block of South 23rd Street at approximately 1:45 p.m.

First responders immediately began lifesaving efforts, and the child was taken by medics to Reid Health.

“Despite every effort by emergency crews and medical staff, the child was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving. The Richmond Police Department extends our deepest sympathies to the family during this unimaginable time,” wrote the RPD.
