BEAUMONT, Texas — Jefferson County Precinct One Justice of the Peace Ben Collins Sr. ordered Tuesday that Beaumont Animal Care will take permanent custody of 32 dogs seized last week from a Pine Street property amid allegations of organized dog fighting and breeding.
The ruling came during a seizure hearing Tuesday afternoon, finalizing custody of the animals removed from the property in the 3700 block of Pine Street on Sept. 30.
Last month two anonymous tips about animal cruelty and the possibility of dog fighting sparked the investigation.
Beaumont Animal Care officers executed the seizure warrant after discovering what they described as unsafe conditions and "disturbing evidence of fighting and breeding activities." The seized animals include four litters of puppies, 20 dogs under
