NEDERLAND, Texas — From Port Arthur to Nederland and Port Neches, hundreds of Southeast Texans gathered Tuesday evening to celebrate National Night Out an annual event aimed at strengthening relationships between residents and local law enforcement.

The nationwide program, which dates back more than 40 years, encourages communities to come together for a night of fun, education and connection. Local agencies say it’s a valuable opportunity to build trust and show families what officers and first responders do each day.
