MENTOR, Ohio (WJW) – The Mentor Police Department is investigating a dog attack that injured a child.

According to a release, Mentor police and firefighters responded to 8150 Rushton Drive on Saturday at about 1:30 p.m. for a report of a dog attacking a 4-year-old girl and her mother.

The 4-year-old was transported to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital “due to the nature and extent of the injuries she sustained during the attack,” the release states.

The report states the mother was also bitten by the dog.

There has been no word on the child’s condition.

The police department is investigating the case with the Lake County dog warden.

No charges have been filed.

The dog is currently being quarantined, the release states.
