MADISON (WKOW) -- An animal shelter is nursing more than 50 animals out of the nearly 400 that were recovered from what authorities are calling a "significant case of animal neglect" in Juneau County .

The Juneau County Sheriff's Office says nearly 400 animals were recovered from a home Friday and released to more than 10 animal shelters for care.

Shelter From the Storm is taking care of 32 rabbits, 16 dogs and 24 chickens at its facility.

Payton Pritzl is the Chief Operating Officer at Shelter From the Storm. She said she received a call late Friday night to help recover some of the animals.

"We wanted to help in whatever way we could, so we just loaded our van up with carriers and headed out there," Pritzl said. "We didn't really know what we were walking into, how many animals
