MIDDLETOWN, Conn. — Connecticut’s crime rates continue to decline across the board, according to the state’s Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, or DESPP.
On Tuesday, DESPP officials released data showing that crime has largely decreased since the beginning of 2024.
Last year’s “Crime in Connecticut” report, which was prepared by DESPP’s Crime Analysis Unit, shows a decrease in all major categories of crime, including crimes against persons, crimes against property and crimes against society. These three categories also show declines since the start of 2023.
DESPP officials say that murder declined by nearly 35%, while cases of criminal sexual conduct dropped by about 18%, when comparing 2024 to 2023.
