BESSEMER, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The community will get a chance to weigh in on a controversial data center that could be built in Bessemer after city leaders set a rezoning hearing for November.

The Bessemer City Council also voted Tuesday to add the words “data center” to its current ordinance for light industrial areas.

Before the vote, several people showed up wearing red in opposition and spoke against the project. They feel it will have negative impacts on the community like pollution and power concerns.
