A 73-year-old man is facing second-degree murder charges following the deaths of two women in Bath, officials said late Tuesday night.

According to a press release, Bath police officers responded to a report of shots fired at 11 Tyler Way at approximately 1:15 p.m.

Police found two women who were dead from apparent gunshot wounds. The women were identified as Cindy Moody, 67, and her daughter, Kristal Moody, 39.

According to a press release, officers discovered Cindy Moody’s brother-in-law, Charles “Chuck” Readey, 73, with a firearm at the residence. Readey was eventually safely detained.

According to the press release, Readey is facing two counts of second-degree murder.

An arraignment is anticipated to be scheduled. Autopsies of Kristal and Cindy Moody are scheduled for Wednesday.
