HARRISON, Ark. (KY3) - The Boone County Regional Airport has been awarded $7 million in federal funding to construct a new terminal, replacing a facility that has served the Ozarks community for 66 years.

The grant is awarded through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Airport Terminal Program, which has made $5 billion available nationwide for terminal improvements. Airport Manager Judy McCutcheon applied for the funding several years ago and faced multiple rejections before receiving approval.

“My stomach turned to butterflies,” McCutcheon said. “The anxiety was crazy, and I didn’t even know what to do.”
