SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - MassTech hosted the MassMake's Innovation Challenge at the Basketball Hall of Fame, bringing together around 300 students from the Pioneer Valley to engage in STEM activities.

The event aimed to prepare the next generation for the workforce by offering hands-on, creative, and experiential learning opportunities as a precursor to STEM Week.

"A lot of energy, a lot of STEM, a lot of hands-on, creative and experiential learning here as sort of a precursor to STEM Week," said Adam Couturier, the Director of STEM & Partnerships and Ecosystem.

Students participated in activities such as programming and operating robots and racing to build paper airplanes, gaining first-hand experience in tasks professionals perform.
