MANISTEE – Home has not been very sweet for the Manistee girls volleyball team this season, and it certainly wasn’t friendly to the Mariners when they hosted Whitehall for their annual “Pink Out” match.

Both teams wore pink jerseys for the occasion, with Mariners head coach Dana Wayward donning a T-shirt with the legend “Block Out Cancer” emblazoned on the front.

What the Mariners couldn’t do, though, was block out the Vikings, who took a 3-1 victory after Manistee won the opening set, 25-23.

Manistee showed great effort and determination, never putting up the white flag of surrender, but lost the next three sets, 23-25, 21-25, 21-25.
