MACOMB (WGEM) - Whether you’re a homeowner, property owner, or tenant in a residential space, keeping up with house maintenance is a must for the long-term well-being of the structure.

This Friday marks the final day to apply for TIF (Tax Increment Finance) dollars through the City of Macomb’s Residential Rehabilitation program. The program offers up to $5,000 for accepted applicants for upgrades to the exterior of the home that is facing the street.

Edwin Hay, who has called a house on East Carroll Street home for the last 30 years, was awarded $3,500 this summer as part of the program.

Over the years, he’s kept up with any rising needs the house presents on his own, but in the last year, he’s received thousands of dollars in city-based assistance.
