The partner of a man who died after being struck by an exploding jet hose at work has spoken of the heartbreaking decision to turn off his life support.
Drainage engineer Miguel Galvao, 51, was working at a Lanes Group Limited site in Leeds when a loud explosion took place as he was priming the jetting hose. The end of the hose whipped up at high speed, striking him and resulting in him being rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
The father-of-three was put into an induced coma, but after two weeks in hospital, doctors told his partner, Estefania Fonseca, there was nothing more they could do for Miguel.
