A complaint was received by the Weyburn Police Service last Monday, September 29, when smoke was seen coming from a wooded area within city limits. Investigation revealed someone had set up a campsite including a tent, fire pit, and barbecue.

WPS Sergeant Riley Ross says they also suspect that the campsite was being used for criminal activity.

“It appeared that there was some potential criminal activity that was going on with potential stolen property, and through this, we're still investigating to determine who set up that camp and anything further."

Sgt. Ross explains that the stolen property is grounds for the suspected criminal activity, the campsite was also in violation of the City of Weyburn bylaw, which prohibits unauthorized fire pits. There are also significant risks to having
