The Canadian Union of Postal Workers is back to work across the country, but the labour dispute with Canada Post is far from over.
Locally, postal workers in Weyburn will return to their regular schedules on Tuesday, according to a statement from Kerri Arnott Thirsk, the president of CUPW Local 853.
While the national strike that began on September 25th has ended, the union has now shifted to a strategy of rotating strikes. This will allow mail and parcels to move, minimizing disruption to the public, while still putting pressure on Canada Post. The rotating strikes begin Saturday at 6:00 a.m. local time.
The union's job action is in response to a number of changes to Canada Post's operations announced by the federal government. These include the phasing out of door-to-door delivery for
