TUCSON, Ariz. (13 News) - For Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a Tucson mother is sharing her extraordinary story of fighting cancer while pregnant, hoping to encourage other women to prioritize early detection.
Michaela Moreno Luna was 40 years old when she noticed something unusual in December 2021.
“I went to my doctor because I saw some sort of rippling in my left breast,” she said.
Having never had a mammogram, Moreno Luna’s doctor ordered one immediately. During the same visit, she also received a sonogram of her reproductive organs as a precautionary measure. The results brought both joy and terror.
“I do see something, and I said, ‘Oh my god, what do you see?’ And she said I see a baby,” Moreno Luna recalled.
