PHOENIX (AZFamily) — TSMC, the world’s largest contract chipmaker, could be expanding to 3 square miles in north Phoenix.

The semiconductor company is partnering with developer, Pulte Group, to try and rezone over 6,000 acres of state trust land for the ‘NorthPark’ project.

According to the master plan, the mixed-use development would develop homes, several trail networks, shopping, and more south of TSMC’s campus.

According to a TSMC Arizona spokesperson, the chipmaker is a NorthPark applicant, and said it’s 900-acre ‘innovation corridor’ presents a strong option for expansion.

After investing $165 billion to grow chipmaking in the valley, TSMC is looking to expand to:

6 chip manufacturing plants

2 advanced packaging facilities

1 research and development center
