The Weyburn Fire Department welcomed the community into its fire hall Wednesday night for an open house marking Fire Prevention Week. Attendees were able to meet and greet Weyburn's team of firefighters, get a photo with Sparky, and enjoy a barbeque.

Deputy Fire Chief Mike Wock says the event saw a great turnout, from the moment their doors opened.

“We've had people rolling through here steady since 6 o'clock. Lots of interaction with other people and a little bit overwhelming.”

“Overall, everyone's just enjoying getting to know the firefighters and what we do here at the fire hall.”

Kids were able to try on firefighter uniforms, explore the trucks, and even spray the fire hose, while the WFD team spread information and awareness about how to prevent fires in the home. Wock says it's a
