GREENVILLE, S.C. — The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) has confirmed the state’s 11th measles case of 2025, involving a child in Greenville County.

It could also be the eighth case linked to the current outbreak in the Upstate , which began in Spartanburg County on September 25. DPH said it is not yet clear if the latest case is connected to the previous seven confirmed in Spartanburg County.

Health officials are conducting contact tracing and notifying anyone who may have been exposed.

“What this case tells us is that there is active, unrecognized community transmission of measles occurring in the Upstate,” the agency said in a statement. “It is vital to ensure that the public have received their measles vaccinations.”
