Harvest is nearing the finish line across southeastern Saskatchewan, with producers in the Weyburn area leading the region in progress.

According to the provincial Ministry of Agriculture's crop report for the week ending October 6th, the harvest for the areas around Weyburn, Radville and Avonlea is 97 per cent complete. This is ahead of the southeastern regional average of 92 per cent.

Across the region, combining is complete for all winter cereal, field pea and lentil crops. Most spring cereals are also in the bin, with progress sitting at 97 per cent for spring wheat and 99 per cent for both durum and barley. Work is now focused on oilseed crops, with 89 per cent of canola and 66 per cent of soybeans harvested.
