TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) - The Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) is urging the public to use caution as Southern Arizona braces for heavy rain and potential flooding this weekend, as Tropical Storm Priscilla brings moisture to the region, according to the National Weather Service.

PCSD is providing residents and visitors with helpful information on how to prepare and exercise extreme caution from Saturday through Monday. Several inches of rain could lead to flooding in dry washes, low-lying areas and canyons.

Hiking and outdoor enthusiasts are advised to avoid hiking in creek beds, washes and canyons when rain is expected. If you do decide to go out, PCSD said to check the weather forecast beforehand and make sure you have extra supplies "in case you need to wait out a storm." Although
