APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) - Winter may be a few months away, but in the Midwest and especially Wisconsin — it's never too early to be ready for the snow.
On Thursday, Appleton International Airport hosted the Snow Plow Rodeo, as crews and personnel train and prepare for the upcoming winter months and the havoc that the snow inevitably wreaks on the ground.
The rodeo allows personnel to do drills and run an obstacle course using snow removal equipment, with the goal of staying the course and showing that they know how to use these big and crucial machines.
Snow plows and removal crews are responsible for keeping several million square feet of runways, ramps and lots clean and open for flight crews to safely operate and land on.
