HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (WENY) -- The Village of Horseheads unveiled the renovation plans for the Thorne Street Pool complex that will be submitted to New York as part of its NY SWIMS grant application.

NY SWIMS is an initiative to help expand access to swimming, address equity gaps, and provide resources to communities facing extreme heat.

The pool at Thorne Street was built in the 1950s and has undergone minimal renovation, with only a deck replacement and a new filtration room, which were installed in the 1990s.

Horseheads is applying for a $5 million grant from the state. The village will contribute $1 million of its own money for the project.
