OXON HILL, Md. (DC News Now) -- Hundreds of people waited in long lines Thursday night at National Harbor in Oxon Hill to see former NBA basketball superstar Allen Iverson.

He was in the DMV to promote his new book “Misunderstood,” where he shares details about his life and career as an NBA player. Iverson played his college basketball in D.C. at Georgetown University and professionally in Philadelphia with the 76ers.

Juanita Batiste, who lives in D.C., says it was exciting to meet Iverson and to get her book signed.

“Everybody was so excited, and people were wearing his jerseys from the Philadelphia 76ers, even some little kids with his shoes on, so it was a very exciting time,” Batiste said.
