An annual community effort that has helped women rebuild their lives after falling victim to abuse is back up and running for another season.

According to a news release sent out by the local chapter of Kingston Basketeers , a volunteer-run group, the initiative not only helps women move on, but provides a sense of comfort.

According to the release, more than four in 10 women experience some form of intimate partner violence in their lifetime.

“Every year, dozens of women in Kingston and surrounding areas take brave steps toward a life free from violence, often starting over with very little. The Kingston Basketeers are once again rallying the community to help make that transition a little easier,” read the release.
